White Pine “Miyajima”

This elegant classical species for bonsai is one of the most popular in Japan because of its adaptability to training. Students will work with 15 year old specimens with 1.5.-inch caliper trunks at The Morton Arboretum. Saturday, August 1, 2015, 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Schefflera

Known as the umbrella tree because of its umbrella shaped leaves, this tree is easy to grow with little maintenance. It does well near a sunny to part sun window. Sunday, August 2, 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. at The Morton Arboretum.

Bonsai Carving Techniques

Students will work with guest artist Jim Doyle on using jin, shari and deadwood carving techniques on field-grown San Jose junipers with 3-inch calipers at The Morton Arboretum. Sunday, August 2, 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
