Oriana Singers

Since 1979, the Oriana Singers have been performing a cappella music, from Renaissance madrigals to vocal jazz and pop, in hundreds of concerts around the United States and abroad. The Oriana Singers are pleased to return to The Morton Arboretum with "Elemental," a program that explores the four classic elements of earth, air, fire, and water through words and music. In English madrigals, music by moderns like the Beatles and Imogen Heap, and compositions by classical composers, we see the elements that make up the world and the humors that control our bodies, and in so doing discover much about the human condition.

Tesla Quartet

Winner of the Gold Medal at the 2012 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Prizewinner in the 2012 London International String Quartet Competition and 2013 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition, the Tesla Quartet was formed at The Juilliard School in 2008 and quickly established itself as one of the most promising young ensembles in New York, winning Second Prize at the J.C. Arriaga Chamber Music Competition only a few months after its inception.

The London Evening Standard called their rendition of the Debussy Quartet “a subtly coloured performance that balanced confidently between intimacy and extraversion,” and The Strad has praised them as “technically superb.”

March 1, 2015
Trevor Stephenson and Chelsea Morris

Acclaimed duo from the Madison Bach Musicians—Chelsea Morris, soprano, and Trevor Stephenson, fortepiano,—will perform an afternoon of songs and lieder by Mozart, Haydn, and Schubert. Stephenson will perform on his 5-octave 18th-century German fortepiano to accompany Morris as well as play several solo fortepiano works by Mozart and Beethoven. He will give a brief talk about the Classical style and discuss how the fortepiano creates a thrilling sense of theatrical immediacy in the music of the 18th-century masters.
