The Newberry Consort - Sold out!
Sunday, December 8, 2013
Beguiling and intelligent, provocative and classic, ravishingly beautiful and deliciously edgy, The Newberry Consort has been delighting audiences for nearly three decades. Directed by David Douglass, Newberry Musician-in-Residence, and early-music diva Ellen Hargis, the ensemble plumbs the Newberry Library's vast music collection for their selections. A concert of 17th- and 18th-century music of Italy and England will be presented at this concert by the Consort.
Second City Musick

Second City Musick is a consort of viols based in Chicago. Specializing in 16th-18th-century consort music, the consort brings the intimate chamber music out of the chamber and into the lives of modern concert-goers. Active members within the early-music community in Chicago, members of this trio have founded other ensembles such as the Haymarket Opera Company and Wayward Sisters and regularly perform with Baroque Band, Callipygian Players, Music of the Baroque, and the Newberry Consort.
