March 5, 2017 (SOLD OUT) - The Prairie Winds Quintet

Join us for intimate classical concerts and friendly receptions at the historic Thornhill Education Center. You will see, hear, and feel the music!

After each performance, you are welcomed at a reception in the Founder's Room (originally the library of Joy Morton, the Arboretum's founder) to converse with the artists and fellow audience members.

The Prairie Winds Quintet

The Prarie Winds are a traditional woodwind quintet: clarinet, bassoon, flute, oboe, and French horn. The warm, mellow tone color of woodwinds quintets creates a tranquil listening experience. These virtuosic performers will play pieces by Claude Debussy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Maurice Ravel.

Trevor Stephenson

At our opening concert, Trevor Stephenson will present masterpieces by Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, and Schubert on the Viennese-style fortepiano, an 18th century predeccessor of the modern piano. You'll appreciate his insights about the composers, selections, and even the design features of this elegant, Classical-period instrument.

Mobius Trio

Mobius Trio's mission is to fully integrate the classical guitar into the adventurous and dynamic music of the 21st century. These three energetic and bold young guitarists will present a program which emphasizes their traditional side, including transcriptions from composers Maurice Ravel and Joaquin Rodrigo.
