Starved Rock Visitor Center
Fees and Registration
Nonmembers: Fees include admission to the Arboretum.
Look for magnificent Bald Eagles (and other birds) at one of the most spectacular places to find them in west-central Illinois, Starved Rock State Park. When most of the rivers and lakes freeze in Illinois, the dam here can be a reliable place to spot these beauties.
We will meet inside the Starved Rock Visitor's Center. After checking out the nearby bird feeders, we will take a short walk to the river to look for Bald Eagles, and learn how to identify different-aged birds. Depending on conditions, we may travel a short distance by car to one to two other nearby locations to look for eagles, ducks, and gulls at the dam. Minimal walking, but please dress in warm layers and in boots with traction. Leader will provide a spotting scope.
Instructor: Vicky Sroczynski
Notes: Held outdoors. Driving directions will be provided. Limit 15
