Taxus Bacatta "Adepressa Fowle" is a compact, slow-growing yew with short, wide needles. This material selected is quite old. The focus of the class will be creating deadwood features and wiring for overall structural design. The class will also feature carving techniques with Owen. Due to the complexity of the trees and the concentration on deadwood work the class size is limited. All skill levels are welcome.
Owen Reich is the PSBS 2017 guest bonsai master. Owen apprenticed for two years at Kouka-en in Japan under Keiichi Fujikawa. Upon his return to the USA he turned his focus to writing and teaching the art of bonsai. His self-described teaching style is "laid back and practical" and his philosophy is "the most important thing when working with bonsai is that this activity should be fun."
