Learn about the geologic, climatic, and ecological factors that influence the development of an essential resource - soil.  In this one-day workshop, discover how knowledge of soils can help us understand plant community distribution. Explore the basics of soil and vegetation types through class lecture, lab work, and field identification.

Instructor: David Dolak, Columbia College
Notes: Held mostly outdoors. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes. We will be hiking up and down steep hills and stairs. Limit 25.
Supplies: Please bring a water bottle and a sack lunch. Materials for writing in the field may be useful.
