What is a moraine, an esker, a kame, and driftless area? Why are there steep rock bluffs in the Illinois prairie landscape? Take an afternoon to see how glaciers have shaped your neighborhood - and the Arboretum! You will learn about the patterns and processes of continental glaciations, the landscape features the glaciers left behind. Then explore the grounds at the Arboretum to understand how the glaciation process shaped the soils and plant communities we see today.
