Field Grown Fir Tree Workshop

This workshop features a selection field grown Douglas and Corkbark fir trees. These trees have 2-3 inch trunks and are between 3-4 feet tall. The primary focus on this workshop will be on initial styling, including determining the height and new leader as well as wiring and branch selection.

Dan has been active in the bonsai hobby since 1986. He prefers outdoor bonsai with mostly conifer trees and a few deciduous trees. He has been a frequent guest on the the Mike Nowak radio show and has been featured in sever publications.  Having a BS in horticulture, Dan has vast knowledge of the care and growing of Bonsai.  Dan is a past president of the PSBS and has been active in the group for a long time.   He has exhibited trees in the Prairie State Bonsai Society show at the Morton Arboretum and also in the Mid-America Bonsai show at the Chicago Botanic Garden. He has also taught bonsai classes at Moraine Valley Community College and performed bonsai demonstrations and led bonsai workshops at Morton Arboretum, Cantigny Gardens, Sid’s Greenhouse, Vern Goers Greenhouse, and The Hidden Gardens nursery.
