Cultural Requirements: Best in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Prefers slightly-acidic pH soil, but will tolerate a wide range of soils, if well-drained. Established plants can tolerate short periods of drought. May need to be pruned to keep compact shape. Not salt tolerant.
Ornamental Characteristics: An evergreen shrub with narrow, green, 2" needles and a wide, mounded shape. Cones about 2" long are woody and brown when mature. (This cultivar is propagated from cuttings. A related variety, P. mugo var. pumilio, is propagated from seed and is much more variable in mature size, ranging in height from 3-6' and in spread from 3-10'.)
Uses in the Landscape: Use in foundation plantings, shrub borders, and massed groupings, or as a specimen or accent plant in rock gardens.
