Cultural Requirements: Plant in full sun for best flowering and fruiting. Prefers well-drained, slightly moist, and acidic to neutral soils. Once mature, crabapples tolerate drought conditions, but benefit with a 3-4-inch layer of organic mulch.
Ornamental Characteristics: An upright small tree, rounding with age. Bark is a glossy, dark red with prominent lenticels. Single red buds open to a clear, dark pink flower. Dark red, ½-inch fruits persist into winter. Green foliage has a reddish cast changing to a reddish-orange fall color. Highly disease resistant.
