Height: 8-10' Spread: 10-15' Habit/Form: Upright to rounded Growth Rate: Fast Zone: 3-8
Cultural Requirements: Full sun to part shade; prefers moist well-drained soil high in organic matter. Plants are shallow-rooted and benefit with a layer of organic mulch to maintain a cool root environment. Avoid extremely dry sites. Because flowers are produced on the current season's wood, pruning in late winter or early spring encourages vigorous growth and large flowers.
Ornamental Characteristics: The large (8-12"), upright, pyramidal flower clusters open in mid-to-late summer as creamy-white and then gradually change, starting from the base of the panicle, to a showy dark pink to pinkish-purple. Flowers are used in dried arrangements.
Uses in the Landscape: This plant can be difficult to incorporate into the landscape due to its size and texture but can be used in group plantings and shrub borders for its summer flowering.
