Cultural Requirements: Does well in loamy, fertile, well-drained soil and is pH adaptable. Prefers part to full shade; variegated leaves tend to burn in full sun. During harsh winters stem tips can die back. Flowers on old and new wood. Overgrown plants can be cut completely to ground after flowering.

Ornamental Characteristics: 'Picta' produces single buttercup yellow flowers. It is smaller in stature than the species with gray-green leaves outlined with white edges. Occasionally producing green shoots, which should be removed.

Uses in the Landscape: Best used in groups for greater effect.
