Cultural Requirements: Prefers full sun to light shade in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Can develop chlorosis (yellowing) in high pH soils. Avoid planting in open, windy sites. Susceptible to salt and pollution.
Ornamental Characteristics: Upright form. Soft, thin, 3-5-inch long, medium green needles are densely crowded near the ends of horizontal branches. They remain on the tree for two to three years before conspicuously dropping in the fall.
Uses in the Landscape: Use as a specimen tree. Good for a small landscape.
