Cultural Requirements: Prefers full sun to light shade in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Can develop chlorosis (yellowing) in high pH soils. Avoid planting in open, windy sites. Susceptible to salt and pollution. This weeping form may require some training to produce a leader and this will affect the ultimate height and spread of the indiviual.

They remain on the tree for two to three years before conspicuously dropping in the fall. 8-inch long cylindrical, resinous cones stay on the tree for 2 years.
