Height: 40-50' Spread: 30-35' Habit/Form: Upright-oval to rounded, open habit
Growth Rate: Medium Zone: 4-8

Cultural Requirements: This Asian species is found along riverbanks and swampy areas in its native habitat. In cultivation it prefers full sun in moist, well-drained, loamy, slightly acidic soils. It is moderately tolerant of some dryness, but will be stunted in compact soils.

Ornamental Characteristics: Handsome corky bark develops vertical scales. The thick, 5-lobed, attractive medium to dark green leaves remain long into fall, then rapidly change to a pale golden yellow fall color.

Uses in the Landscape: A handsome, long-lived, dense shade tree for the home landscape. May be difficult to obtain in local nurseries.
