Learn the basics of Italic calligraphy and its applications in the botanical art.  We will cover the fundamentals of graphic design and the placement of script and image on the page.

Learn Julie's unique style of working with dry water soluable colred pencil layered with graphite.  Explore drawing on various types of papers such as Stonehenge to capture the textures of spring plants and bulbs.

Wildlife Portraits in High Detail Acrylic Trigueros_Rey_Siberiano

Learn to capture the spirit of the animal in this high detail acrylic class.  We will begin with a trip to Brookfield Zoo to sketch and photograph animals.  In the classroom, you will begin a painting based on your sketches.  You will have a chance to see Gerardo's works up close in a special exhibit of animal portraits.

Painting the Landscape in Chalk Pastel

Our workshop begins with familiarizing ourselves with the landscape by limbering up with quick thumbnail sketches, breaking the landscape into simple shapes, and establishing the values.  Students learn the relationship between warm and cool colors, how to apply thin, multiple layers
of pigments, and how to use color and values to create depths of field.
